Electrical Engineer

Overview
Provide technical expertise in electrical/electronic engineering specifically in the areas of hardware and embedded system firmware design to drive development of consumer and commercial products.
Work with all cross-functional teams (Marketing, Industrial Design, Project Management, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.) to deliver a successful product to market.
Refine and develop new features and product electrical engineering documentation to the level of production readiness for hand-off to Product Development teams in China.
Responsibilities
Provide electrical/electronic engineering support for Work Solutions NPD and CPD teams through concept, design, and troubleshooting electrical circuitry to actuate and control new and innovative product features and concepts.
Provide electrical/electronic engineering design documentation and support expertise for NPD and CPD teams during project hand-off phase to China-based production factory including both US and on the ground support in China.
Maintain current and new EE-based technologies and theories to keep Fellowes in the forefront of EE-based technology application in regards to current and future business categories. Build prototype-level models to prove feasibility of new concepts and theories.
Manage and support third-party OEM vendors including China-based suppliers to deliver projects on target and on time.
Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Experience
3 to 5 years' of work experience in consumer electronics/embedded systems production-level design
Experience with authoring firmware for electro-mechanical internal components
Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up, debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support
Skills/Abilities -
Strong EE fundamentals including the ability to design and lay out PCBs using ECAD software
Good communication and organizational skills
Applied electrical/electronic engineering skills including strong hands-on design skills
Understanding of design and application of analog and digital circuit design
Skilled at using electronic engineering PCB design and stimulation software preferably Altium
Able to read, design and troubleshoot electrical schematic diagrams
Able to hand prototype and troubleshoot PCB and electrical systems and firmware
Able to author firmware at a high level
Able to function independently at a high performance level
Strong and flexible communication style required to develop strong supplier relationships including with China-based suppliers
Creative, imaginative and technical problem-solving skills
Strong troubleshooting skills with electronic circuits
Other Information Must be willing to travel to China twice a year.
