Quality Engineer

Basic Functions
Support in the articulation, implementation and enforcement of quality management systems in the facility. Collects and interprets metrics and measures of quality and uses data to develop action plans to address issues and take advantage of improvement opportunities. Work in parallel with the quaity team to service customers and internal departments to maintain quality systems and resolve quality issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare, review and evaluate data and information and develop recommendations for use by plant and division QA management.
Utilize key measurement data to develop quality plans with clear definitions of objectives, actions to be taken and time lines for completion.
Utilize quality techniques to reduce process variations or refine process parameters based upon results.
Assist in problem solving techniques, investigate and recommend new techniques in statistical quality assurance problems.
Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations. Assist in identification, tracking and trending of corrective and preventative actions to ensure items are closed out on a timely basis.
Act as plant resource to standardize formal investigations through process evaluation, template development and training.
Develop and implement systems that will track the performance of manufacturing processes.
Establish requirements for effective statistical QA systems. Process statistical QA data and issue reports.
Some IT background with reference to setting up RealSPC test plans, installing QA equipment to interface with RealSPC on the plant floor computers.
Assist in development of SOP's and Work Instructions.
Lead and facilitate problem-solving teams.
Analyze customer complaints and manage corrective action plan implementation.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Mathematics or related field, strongly preferred.
Professional accreditation by ASQ in Quality Engineering, Management or Auditing, is preferred.
Experience with ISO9001/ISO13485 quality systems, IFS PACSecure standard and audit activity
2-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; prior experience in plastics and/or other packaging desired.
Strong working knowledge of performance measurement and monitoring methods required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
